This month's Employee Spotlight features Thomas Lipscomb, better known as Tom, Website Manager at Malama Kai. Here's Tom on what the role has taught him about creativity and growth, in his own words.

Being a Website Manager at Malama Kai has shown me that digital work is not just about managing websites; it is about problem-solving, creativity, and continuous growth. Every day brings a new opportunity to solve problems, whether I'm improving our company's digital presence, developing custom functionality with Velo by Wix, creating content for social media, troubleshooting SharePoint issues, or collaborating with teammates to support new initiatives. Wearing many hats continually challenges me to expand my knowledge and keeps every day exciting.

One lesson that has stayed with me is that creativity is more important than I expected when taking this position. As more people use AI in similar ways, the ability to bring original ideas, thoughtful design, and fresh perspectives to our content becomes even more valuable. AI tools are powerful, but creativity is what helps us use them in new, strategic, and meaningful ways. Exciting applications of AI come from people who think differently, experiment, and imagine possibilities that others may not see. As technology continues to evolve, creative minds will play an essential role in expanding what is possible. This has become one of the unexpected challenges of my position at Malama Kai: finding new ways to challenge the status quo.

It's great to be part of the corporate team at Malama Kai. As a team, we encourage innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning in our day-to-day work, while also supporting our emerging technologies with new ideas. Our culture makes it easy for me to share ideas, explore new tools, and learn from others, while our leadership encourages me to stay curious, experiment, think creatively, and challenge myself. If there is one piece of advice I have, it is this: stay curious, keep asking questions, and never stop looking for new ways to solve problems.
